How do I prepare my wall for wallpaper?Updated a month ago
The better the finish of your walls, the better the wallpaper will look.
Make sure that the wall is dry, clean, smooth and free from loose wallpaper particles and flaking paint.
Scrape off any old, loose wallpaper, fill in any holes, or sand the walls down, for example.
In most cases, there’s no need to use a primer before installing our wallpaper.
However, if you’re working with a highly absorbent surface, like a newly plastered wall or one plastered within the last three years, it's important to seal it with a primer first. This helps prevent the paste from being absorbed too quickly, which could cause the wallpaper to shrink during installation.
Tip: for the best finish, paint vertical stripes on the walls at 45cm intervals, using emulsion paint in a hue that matches the base colour of the wallpaper. Ensuring that if any wallpaper shrinkage occurs, it won’t be visible.
