How should I apply the wallpaper paste?Updated a month ago
Digitally Printed 'Panel System' Wallpaper:
Our digitally printed 'Panel System' wallpaper is best applied using the paste-the-wall method with a non-woven adhesive. You can find our recommended paste options here.
Apply the paste evenly to the wall using a roller. Pasting between one and a maximum of three roll panels at a time is recommended.
The adhesive must not dry before the wallpaper panel is hung.
This wallcovering requires a smaller quantity of adhesive than a traditional paper wallpaper. Using too much paste can cause shrinkage.
Traditional Wallpaper:
Our traditional wallpaper is best applied using the paste-the-paper method.
Use a roller to apply an even coat of paste to the back of the paper, working from the centre outwards to the edges.
Allow the wallpaper to 'soak' for the time recommended by the paste manufacturer.
Paste one strip at a time to avoid the paste drying out.
Paste Application Tips:
If you’re working on a newly plastered wall, you’ll need to seal the wall with primer to prevent the paste from being absorbed by the plaster, which could cause the paper to shrink.
Make sure that the adhesive is not forced out from between the joint and onto the front surface as this can damage the wallpaper.
Tip: Use a brush along cornices and skirtings to minimise excess adhesive.
Wallpaper paste is sensitive to heat, so it's important to turn off central heating and keep the room well-aired before, during, and after application and drying. Do your best to wait 48 hours before turning the heating back on.
